Metric’s back, and better than ever

FantasiesI know I don’t write “honest to god album reviews” all that often, but know that when I DO write a review, you can bet that the album has me excited! When our friends at Sneak Attack Media sent us the upcoming release by Metric, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. Having enjoyed their earlier stuff, I honestly wasn’t prepared for just how amazing their latest album “Fantasies” was.

There is lots of talk in other reviews of this album claiming that this is a return to the sound that fans know and love. Having only heard “Live it Out” (which is a decent album), “Fantasies” will serve as the catalyst to get me purchasing their earlier albums. Emily Haines has a beautiful voice, and if you like hearing her in “Broken Social Scene”, well, get ready for a lot more love. Backing her up are guitarist James Shaw (from “Broken Social Scene”), bassist Joshua Winstead and drummer Joules Scott-Key, (both from “Bang Lime”).

I can’t express just how much I enjoy this album, and “Fantasies” is definitely a contender for my 10 best albums released this year.
