Mew snippets

Brush up your ears and use those “ignoring the DJ” skills you’ve acquired through countless radio rips, there’s some new Mew material floating in the net in the form of teeny-tiny clips from
Mew’s upcoming new album with a bunch of Danish DJs blabbing over the songs. There isn’t much to go here, but what does show up is pretty interesting.
Click here for Mew’s view on Franz Ferdinand’s debut in the form of the lead single “Repeater Beater”, here if you want 17 seconds of beautifully ringing, ridiculously happy dose of pop called “Beach” and here if you want to check out the floaty, calm “A Dream”.
Like said, the snippets give hardly any sort of proper idea what’s about to come out but you get the basic gist that No More Stories (as the long-windedly named album is called shortly) is going to be Mew’s possibly most shamelessly hook-filled and melodic effort to date; less about roaring guitar walls and more about saccharine beauty. Which is pretty alright to me because the band’s got a fantastic knack for a pop hook.
We’ll hear something a bit better when Repeater Beater makes its radio debut at the end of this month, I’ll keep you updated.
Speaking of RB, the pre-album EP’s details have been announced. The June 1st release is also called No More Stories and contains two cuts from the album as well as three b-sides, detailed here:
1. Introducing Palace Players
2. Repeater Beater
3. Owl
4. Start
5. Swimmers Chant
And to sign off, the video for what is probably the band’s most irresistable little pop ditty called “Mica”, taken from Half the World Is Watching Me. Based on the clips, No More Stories seems to be the spiritual successor of tunes like these.

I see you’ve found my videos ;)
Hmm, Repeater Beater does sound remarkably similar to Franz Ferdinand’s “That’s What She Came For” now that you mention it…

BTW, the new single coming out on Friday isn’t Repeater Beater anymore. It’s “Introducing Palace Prayers.” I wonder why they changed it…?
