MSP – Peeled Apples

March 25th, 2009 by Flint

So here I was wishing for something concrete out of the new Manic Street Preachers album to appear and badda bing badda boom Zane Lowe decides to play the new album’s opening track Peeled Apples on his show.

First impressions:

  • pretty damn well rocking
  • not so much The Holy Bible as imagined which is good cause it sounds like more of its own thing instead of self-plagiarism
  • sexy bass intro
  • chorus has a kick
  • the whole song has a nice kick to it and the band certainly isn’t suffering from production problems now
  • not an earthshatteringly great song but damn nice of a taster and already sounds much, much better (and genuine) than Send Away the Tigers stuff
  • Zane Lowe, stop talking over songs

I am getting optimistic about this album

You rock. This rocks! Thanks so much. I missed the Zane Lowe show online from here in the States and the replay link ain’t up at the Beeb yet.

Any chance you could re-upload this? It’s been downloaded too many times so the link died. =(

    It’s been re-uploaded :).

Zane Lowe is such a prick. “It’s gonna tear your face off”. Eughh. And then that noise he makes at the end. Euggh x2.

Thanks for this, saved me the effort of scanning through his show on the iPlayer.

(I may be crazy, but I hear a sample of Heaven 17’s “Temptation” in this track)

I’ve taken it upon myself to re-upload Peeled Apples so that it is now:

    a) 100% Zane Lowe free. The little reverb thing on the last chord is added so that the ending didn’t sound too harsh, because the little scamp starts rabbiting just as the song finishes. That’s also his breathing you can hear at the start. Nice.

    b) a little louder and slightly fuller-sounding, thanks to a little eq tweak.

    c) free of that twatting gap on the second verse.

Because I used stupid stupid Rapidshare, it can only be downloaded 10 times, so I would recommend that you re-upload it yourselves.

    Enjoy!
