O Lacrosse, where art thou?
December 31st, 2008 by IpequeySo, while perusing the “recently played” list of a friend on last.fm, I found that this person had impeccable music tastes, and so, it was imperative that I check out almost every band she had listened to which I’d not heard of (luckily, our tastes are pretty similar, so it was a short list). There were some real gems on that list that I’ve never heard of before: The Most Serene Republic, Belaire and this band called “Lacrosse”.
Not to be confused with the older Swedish band “La Crosse”, this Stockholm, Sweden band is awesome. So much so, I have to wonder “Why haven’t they had their big break?” Their wonderful upbeat, tweepop stylings ring through in an interesting and different way each track :) Plus their albums feature funny and crazy critter art! They kind of remind me of “Black Kids” and “The Polyphonic Spree” with their off-kilter vocal harmonies, that really magically tie together with the melody to create wonderful songs. In fact, every last song on this album is fantastic, and I dare say that this would have been in my top 10 list for last year.
So, my thanks go out to my friend and her wonderful tastes on last.fm, and I hope you enjoy these handpicked tracks off their “This New Year Will Be For You Me” album. :) [Buy it!]
